Give me over $1.5m for kids
The Southern Cross Austereo charity arm 'Give Me 5 For Kids' has been running for nearly 20 years.
This year the event, and subsequently the funds raised, will be likely to be the biggest ever by virtue of it being a metropolitan and regional radio event, and including regional television.
Whilst some SCA stations have already commenced activities, the 'Five' initiative was officially launched this morning.
Last year the event raised $1.5m, all of which was donated to the childrens wards in local hospitals: this year the objective for SCA is to exceed that amount.
CEO Rhys Holleran said; "I know every Southern Cross Austereo market looks forward to (Give Me 5 For Kids) because it’s without exception that all of the funds raised stay in the communities we serve – a key contributor to its continued success.
We hope 2012 will deliver our biggest and best Give Me 5 For Kids to date, thanks to the contribution of each of our markets who are creating different and unique fundraising events in collaboration with wide ranging members of our community. We urge all of our supporters to give generously so we can provide the children’s wards in our hospitals with the best facilities available”.
SCA have enlisted their key personalities to get behind the event, and various celebrities including INXS and Matthew Hayden. There is a variety of fundraising concepts running nationally under the 'Give Me 5' banner, including a telethon, wear your pj's to work day, broadcasting marathons, auctions, walkathons, auction nights and fun runs.
