Get Back to Reality with Al Perkins and Taku Chimwaza

Reality TV alumni Al Perkins and Taku Chimwaza from Love Island have teamed up in Nova’s latest original podcast, Back to Reality.

Launching Wednesday 18th, the pair navigate the world after Australian TV success and detail what comes after the cameras stop rolling.

From weekend party antics to dating in their post-television world, Al and Taku return to reality, bringing listeners along for the journey.

“It’s been great joining forces with Taku and discussing where us boys blunder and understanding other people’s perspectives. I’m always being asked about some of the things I say and what I mean, well Back to Reality digs a little bit deeper than just a shoey,” Al said.

Al Perkins from Bondi Beach in Sydney. He shot to fame with his shoey on Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight in 2022 before appearing on Love Island later that same year. The 26-year-old won Australia over with his personality and kind heart.

Prior to joining the show, he was working as a carpenter. Now Al works alongside Australian brands as an influencer.

Co-host Taku has always enjoyed radio, and now he has a chance behind the mic in the new podcast.

“I’ve always loved radio and working with Nova has given me the chance to ask and chat about social sticky situations,” Taku said.

“I’m really proud of Back to Reality and working with Al, this gives you a chance to be a fly on the wall on the ultimate boy’s night out!”

Taku Chimwaza was born in Zimbabwe before moving to Australia over ten years ago. He appeared on Love Island Australia 2021, with audiences enjoying his positivity, humour and dancing.

Back to Reality is an original Nova Podcast launching on Wednesday, 18 January, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday.

The podcast is available here, on the Nova Player or wherever you access your podcasts.
