Future regional talent…

Staff Writer

Aimed squarely at recent or new school leavers, SCA and Charles Sturt University have again teamed up to give you the best shot at getting into the radio industry.

There are a number of regional locations around the Australia where you can apply to be endorsed by a local station. If selected, you will be given guaranteed entry into the Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Communication (Commercial Radio) degree at their campus in Bathurst, NSW.

You’ll then head to your local stations during uni holidays for hands on work experience.

David Maxwell, lecturer in radio and advertising in the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries in Bathurst, said this is the second year that the CSU-SCA Regional Radio Endorsement Program has been offered.

“Last year we recruited 10 students for the Bachelor of Communication (Radio) from regional Australia through the program, and we are hopeful we will recruit more this year,” said David.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for young people interested in joining the exciting world of radio and starting out in a radio career across regional Australia while gaining formal qualifications and industry experience that will provide an employment advantage when they graduate.

“We thank SCA for their enthusiastic support of Charles Sturt University, the Regional Radio Endorsement Program, and Commercial Radio Australia, the sponsors of the CSU Bachelor of Communication (Radio) course.”
