From tears to triumph. Fifi, Fev & Nick assemble junior AFL team: ‘The Underdogs’

The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick are recruiting for their inspirational junior AFL team, ‘The Underdogs,’ a heartwarming initiative that brought Fifi Box to tears live on-air.

The Underdogs team is made up of children who have been excluded from sports due to bulling, health issues and other reasons.

This Friday, Fifi, Fev & Nick’s Underdogs will be playing the curtain-raiser at Marvel Stadium ahead of the Carlton vs Port Adelaide AFL match, fulfilling their dreams in front of a sold-out crowd on a national broadcast.

Joining the Underdogs is eight-year-old Jax. Jax’s mother Leah called into The Fox with a heartbreaking story about her son being bullied – having his glasses ripped off and snapped – when he was just six years old.

Jax was also forced to watch kids at school play at lunchtime without being included.

The story brought Fifi to tears as Leah explained Jax’s harrowing experience of having to move schools. Now, Jax joins the Underdogs with a money-can’t-buy experience.

Also joining the Underdogs is Arli, a young boy battling cancer for the second time, given leave by doctors for Friday night’s game.

The Fox, Channel 7, the Carlton Football Club, and the AFL have collaborated to turn this idea into reality for Melbourne children facing significant challenges.

The Underdogs will run out onto the field with Fifi, Fev and Nick at 7 pm Friday.
