From burnout to Bali: The former radio exec who built a global women’s wellness brand

It wasn’t all that long ago that Zoë Watson was a high-powered radio sales executive, working for Nova in both Adelaide and Sydney.

But whilst her radio career was moving forward in leaps and bounds, privately, Zoë was in the trenches, battling chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic migraines and burnout.

Something had to give.

And so, after opening the Adelaide sales office for the Australian Traffic Network (ATN), Zoë walked away from a lucrative corporate path and booked herself a trip to Bali.

She didn’t know when she’d be coming back.

That was fifteen years ago and since then – in one of radio’s great reinvention stories – Zoë has gone on to establish one of Bali’s most recognised luxury wellness retreats.

Identifying a clear gap in the market, she founded Bliss Sanctuary for Women, building a retreat model centred entirely around individualisation, with no rigid schedules, no set programs and no expectation to participate in group activities.

Each stay is shaped around the woman who arrives, no matter what her background, with guests staying in hand-picked private villas across three locations.

Of her journey from radio executive to entrepreneur, Zoë says “Fifteen years ago, I set out to create something deeply personal: wellness without prescription, structure without pressure and a retreat without rigidity, where each woman felt truly seen and supported.”

“I could never have imagined how profoundly it would touch so many hearts.”

“What has guided us from the beginning is care, for our guests, our team and for creating an experience that allows women to simply arrive and exhale.”

Or, simply put – to invest in themselves.
