Fred Botica exits Mix 94.5 after 21 years

Staff Writer

Mix 94.5’s Fred Botica has announced that he will be leaving after 21 years with the Perth station. He was on breakfast for most of that time and recently came back from long service leave to present drive with Lisa Shaw.

Fred said: “In over 44 years, I have been on seven radio stations in NZ and Australia, and the longest time has been on mix94.5… over 21 years. That’s a long time.

“So many relationships, so many achievements, and so many memories. So difficult to make the decision to leave. But I feel it’s time to move on. Time for another chapter.”

General Manager, Linda Wayman, said: “We had hoped the move to Drive would mean mix94.5 could hang onto Fred a bit longer but it seems that all good things must come to an end. So after more than 20 years at the microphone, Freddy is leaving us.

“We accept his decision with the respect that is due to any long-time colleague. Fred’s professionalism and success have inspired many people in the radio industry over the years – after all, he has been one of Perth’s most successful announcers ever!

“I’m sure he looks back on his stellar career with pride, just as we at mix94.5 are proud to have been part of Freddy’s success for the past 21 years.”

Fred’s last day with Mix 94.5 will be May 9.
