“Right now we’re finding our feet”: Heidi Anderson on new breakfast show’s first week

Former Features Editor

The first week of Perth’s newest breakfast show is officially over, with Heidi Anderson joined by WA local boy Ryan Jon along with former AFL player Xavier Ellis earlier than the expected January 8 start date.

The week was not without controversy though, with Jon revealing he was unable to attend the premiere of Pitch Perfect 3 because of his rocky history with Ruby Rose – a history so rocky in fact, that the content was pulled from the website less than 24 hours after the press release promoting the segment was sent out.

But at the forefront of it all is Anderson – almost four years after she first went to air with co-hosts Will and Woody, she’s still holding down the fort for the breakfast show on hit92.9.

Speaking to Radio Today about the past week, Anderson said it’s been an exciting time, but it’s still going to take some adjusting.

“I’m bloody pumped to have two new hubbies. Ryan and Xav are both great guys, and I look forward to exploring our relationship in 2018.

Listen to the new team’s first break from Monday’s show:

“But I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you after four years with Will and Woods it’s been very strange for me personally. It felt very natural in the studio with the three of us, but it’s super different and it’s going to feel that way for awhile.

She added: “Right now we’re finding our feet and just warming up so please don’t listen and judge yet!”

Anderson explained that she’s excited to explore “a different DNA” for the breakfast show, with Jon playing a large part in the creative ideas.
