Former 2DayFM Breakfast host Em Rusciano returns to SCA

Former Publisher

After walking from her 2DayFM breakfast show in 2018, Em Rusciano is returning to Southern Cross Austereo to front EMSOLATION, a new isolation-themed podcast.

Rusciano will be joined by best friend and Offspring screenwriter Michael Lucas, her three dogs, three children and husband and performance coach Scott Barrow.

“In this period of isolation, it’s time to get a glass of wine, zone out and listen to Em Rusciano’s brand new podcast series on PodcastOne Australia,” SCA said in a statement.

SCA’s head of podcasting, Grant Tothill, teased it’s the podcast you didn’t know you needed.

“If you want to get some real relief from your isolation with campy monologues and diva dissections that you didn’t know you needed, listen to Em in Emsolation.”

Since leaving full-time radio, Rusciano has been focussed on family and her hugely popular “take no prisoners and tell no lies” comedy show, The Rage & Rainbows Tour.

Rusciano‘s final 2DayFM Breakfast show took place September 7 in 2018, with the host bidding a teary farewell to listeners and her co-hosts after a rollercoaster run.

During that last show, Rusciano admitted she was “arrogant” for originally thinking she would “blitz” the radio ratings when she first started.

She also addressed the media scrutiny she had been under during the show’s run with Harley Breen and then with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee.

“Two years ago I agreed to take this job on. I was pretty arrogant and I thought I would totally blitz it and we’d go number one in like a year. “And then I quickly realised that it was going to kick my arse,” she said during her farewell break.

“I didn’t expect to be hammered by the press quite so often, and I didn’t expect to question who I am and all that I hold dear on a weekly basis.

“But this job has allowed me one of the best moments in my professional career when I got to take on the Prime Minister and his stance on marriage equality.”
