Em Rusciano on 2Day FM breakfast: “I can’t do this”
Eagle-eared listeners to Em Rusciano‘s 2Day FM breakfast shift were left perplexed on Tuesday morning, when the show’s frontwoman was unable to continue.
Just after the 7am news, co-host Harley Breen stepped in to rescue a distraught-sounding Rusciano during the brief and awkward segment that lasted 30 seconds.
“What are we doing now?,” asked Rusciano, to which Breen replied, “I’ve no idea.”
Rusciano can then be heard whispering, “I can’t do this.” And that was enough for the show’s panel operator to take control of the situation by telling listeners, “we might take a little short break and come back shortly.”
After 10 minutes of ads and music, Rusciano and Breen returned to regular programming.
According to an SCA spokesperson, Rusciano was “caught off guard” and put the episode down to “a personal issue”.

Took all day to get noticed and posted.. Must be heaps of ears on that breakfast show
As a fan of Em’s, I believe SCA have a responsibility to her health to take her off air until further notice. The job is clearly not good for her and I fear what could happen if SCA continue to push her. There are things in this world more important than radio … and one of them is mental health. I pray that SCA do the right thing. We’re all with you, Em 🙂
IMO – Christian Hull would make an excellent replacement for Em. The chemistry between Harley and Christian is always so bloody hilarious – would be really cool to make it a permanent show!
If 2DayFM want the breakfast show to rate above a 4.5% there is a simple answer. There’s a duo on KIIS called Kyle and Jackie O. They would deliver strong results on 1041. 2DayFM should poach them. What have they got to lose?

It appears to me that Emma is a girl’s girl, not a man’s girl….meaning she is more comfortable in the sisterhood than the current composition of the 2Day brekky team. My tip is she would perform better with a strong female co-host than a male…here’s to her getting the emotional support she needs right now.

sounds to me like she just had a shit morning or that maybe her producers hadnt prepped her for the coming segment.

Oh my.Sounds like a white flag there.Em Rusciano is a talented communicator and has something to offer but I get the feeling Sydney breakfast is not the ideal spot for her.

After reading that article and hearing about all this drama, It takes some serious mental gymnastics to arrive at the conclusion that Em needs to be paired with a female.
Yesterday Em was caught up in the Safe Schools “petition” situation. It seems a few people may OR may not have started the usual “witch hunt”. But I am sure this would have caused some stress to Em as she is a massive ally to the LGBTQI community. She did speak about the situation on yesterdays show but no doubt yesterday was a stressful one.
I don’t think she needs to be taken “off air”, she had a moment which many people have and a personal matter, is a personal matter. She came back on and finished the show, whats done is done.
The online keyboard warriors (or should that be ‘worry-ers’ this time!?) are at it again. There was no white flags, no need for her to be paired with someone else (wasn’t it Em who wanted Harley in the first place!??), or for her to be replaced with Christian (as great as he is).
Em just had a moment, she was distracted and caught off-guard, the team went to a couple of songs and they got their schtick back together again. End of story.
