Dean Clairs celebrates 30 years in radio

Staff Writer

Yesterday, Dean Clairs from Mix 94.5 in Perth celebrated exactly 30 years since his very first radio shift.

At 17, Clairsy started as a copywriter at 6MD in Merredin after pushing trolleys at Big W.

Since 1983, Dean has worked at Bunbury’s Golden West Radio, three Canberra stations, SAFM Adelaide and Perth’s 1080 The Eagle (now 6IX) and 92.9.

He’s been with Mix 94.5 since 2001.

In his 30 years, Dean has interviewed some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment, sport and politics and has had his fair share of dressing in drag and the odd nudie run.

It's a radio stunt that allowed him to meet his now wife who was a contestant in a 'Date My Dad' promotion.

Dean currently does drive on Mix 94.5 with Shane McFarlane and Kymba Cahill on The Big Couch which began in July 2006.

Congrats Clairsy !!!

What is a 30 year celebration without an embarrassing video showing a very nice mullet…..
