David Bye says Bye
David Bye has left radio after 23 years in the industry.
He spent most of his time at 5RM in Berri either as announcer, PD, Group PD for S.A, or GM. For the past 5 years he was Fairfax Media's Regional Radio General Manager.
David had a health scare earlier this year that he says is the main reason why he is leaving.
"It is a very emotional time for me and a decision I have not made lightly", he told local newspaper 'The Murray Pioneer'.
"I have many amazing memories and life highlights from my time in radio. Radio gets in your blood and you can never really leave it for good. However, I think it's time for me to slow down for a while and I certainly won't miss all of the travel."
5RM General Manager, Cheryl Lardner, said of David's departure…
"…we say farewell to a great mentor and leader. David has been instrumental in many great community engagements for the Riverland through his work at the region's only commercial radio stations and is held in high regard by the network's employees. He also earned 5RM several Commercial Radio National Awards, one of which saw him named 'Best Station Manager' in 2007. To say David will be missed is a huge understatement…..the end of an era."
