DAB+ Survey #4: The 90s iHeartRadio wins a tight battle for Melbourne

Former Assistant Editor

Traditional and digital radio are now seen as equal, with GfK also releasing the results of DAB+ Survey #4 for 2018 today.

This survey saw little movement for Sydney, with Edge Digital maintaining the top spot that it has held for the duration of 2018. The station fell slightly to 131,000 listeners (-7,000) but hold onto first place ahead of ABC Jazz on 122,000 (+18,000) and ABC Grandstand on 111,000 (+22,000).

Melbourne saw a much tighter finish for its DAB+ stations, with The 90s iHeartRadio rising to 72,000 (+8,000) wrestling first place away from Coles Radio who fell to 64,000 (-10,000).

Coles did manage to keep its position in Brisbane though, jumping to 52,000 (+11,000) with closes competition Double J failing to keep pace on 32,000 (-3,000).

Adelaide is still a two-horse race between iHeartRadio twin stations The 80s and The 90s, with the former of the two coming out on top today.

Finally, smooth continues to be Perth’s #1 choice on the DAB+ spectrum, sustaining its lead above its closest competitor OLDSKOOL HITS.
