Crocmedia obtains exclusive radio rights to A-League games

Crocmedia has secured a landmark six-year deal with Football Federation Australia (FFA) that will see the independent sports radio syndicator exclusively broadcast the Hyundai A-League on radio from the start of the 2017/18 season.

Under the newly created brand Football Nation, Crocmedia will deliver mass distribution of the game across metropolitan and regional radio and online audiences in Australia and New Zealand.

It will include live match calls on the Super Radio Network which includes Sydney’s 2SM and 21 regional stations across NSW and South East Queensland, FIVEaa in Adelaide, and Perth’s 6PR.

The deal with Crocmedia marks the first of its kind for the FFA. Since its inception in 1963, the governing body had never signed a commercial radio deal.

“Along with our Network Ten, FOX SPORTS and News Corp Australia partnerships, this Crocmedia deal will allow more fans to access more of our great game and that’s a win for football,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.

As part of the deal, Crocmedia has also landed big screen and LED boundary signage rights at all Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League games.

Crocmedia changed the radio landscape in 2017 with its AFL radio rights deal which sees its broadcast AFL games via AFL Nation across Australia.

CEO Craig Hutchison said: “As well as broadcasting the biggest matches on Football Nation, we’ll use our broader programming ecosystem to grow the A-League fan base and build the profile of its players.”
