Confirmed: Kate Ritchie to join Nova drive

Staff Writer

dmg Radio have confirmed that ex-Nova 96.9 breakfast co-host Kate Ritchie will be the one to replace Meshel Laurie on Nova national drive in 2014, joining Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold.

The word she was joining the show has been around for a month (see here).

"I couldn't have asked for a greater gig to come along … it's perfect. I love the freedom of radio (as well as cheeky boys) which is why I can’t wait to get back into the Nova studio on a regular basis with Tim and Marty. I can’t say I ever loved the 4.00am alarm clock and that’s what makes this drive shift a dream job!” said Ritchie.

Kate started working for Nova in early 2008 when she became part of the Merrick & Rosso breakfast show.

Since leaving fulltime radio she still makes regular appearances, often filling in when Fitzy & Wippa are on holiday's, doing the show with Sam Mac.

Paul Jackson, dmg Radio’s Group PD said, “Kate was a natural choice as she’s no stranger to the audience and her style of banter fits perfectly the real, relatable, conversational style that has made our drive show number one across Australia.”

Kate, Tim & Marty will start on-air in January.
