Cliff Reeve celebrates 30 years with Triple M WA

Reporter

It’s not often a great WA radio identity stays in a gig for an extended period of time, but Cliff Reeve has dedicated the lion’s share of his career to entertaining Triple M listeners.

Today, Cliff marks 30 years with Triple M, and 47 years in radio.

Cliff started his career on 1976 when he stepped behind the mic at 6BY in Bridgetown.

He lives and breathes Western Australia, and is the go-to for all things political, satirical and everything in between.

Cliff not only shares his voice on air, he has also held the positions of Program Director, Promotions Manager and various other jobs that come with keeping a radio station not only broadcasting, but successful in the ratings.

Cliff was celebrated in Federal Parliament last week with a congratulatory mention on the floor from local member Nola Marino.

SCA’s WA Executive General Manager Ian Kennedy says “It’s a very special day today for Cliff, celebrating his 30th work anniversary with SCA. What a fantastic achievement.”

“Cliff has interviewed hundreds of people from politicians to local identities, played thousands of music tracks and read his fair share of commercials. He is a popular professional in every sense of the word, liked by both work colleagues and his loyal audience.”

“Congratulations Cliff on this wonderful milestone.”

Cliff says “When you’re lucky enough to score a gig at Triple M, you don’t take it for granted. If you can get on the playing field, you’re blessed. I’ve always said ‘ask not what this job can do for you, ask what you can do for the job.’ I believed it when I first started my radio career and I still believe it today.”

Congratulations Cliff!

You’re commitment to the audience in Western Australia is extraordinary. Your ability to relate to community is outstanding and your efforts to remain a relevant broadcaster are unrivalled.

Thank you for helping the community through tough times and making them laugh at and with you as well.

Well done on this stunning achievement, there simply won’t be too many others who will come close to this length of service and maintain this level of passion.

I grew up listening to WA Today on Radiowest and then shadowed him for a week on work experience. Years later I was presenting on 96FM one Saturday night and he called me to say congrats. A great guy, well done Cliff!

I worked with Cliff on breakfast in Queensland 31 years ago, for just over a year, before he returned to WA.

He was also PD at 4CC, and great company of a morning. He worked hard to fill his show with local shout-outs and funny bits.

He always beat me to work, and genuinely cared for the staff.. from the cleaning lady, up.

He gave me my nickname, which I still go by!

I’ve since seen his success on MMM, plus his artistic side on show.

Congrats on an amazing achievement, Cliff!

Cliff offered me a Production Manager gig around 28 years ago (6TZ??). Sadly I was offered it after the #1 draft pick decided not to take the gig, so I moved to Coast Rock Gosford instead! Never heard a bad thing about C.R. and it’s refreshing to hear there are still some nice guys in radio. I kind of wish I had taken the gig now!

30 years!
You deserve The purple hart old sock!
One the greatest broadcasters to hit the air.
I still have fond memories of you at RO with your blonde mullet, shirtless with cut off jeans ,bare footed sitting in the on-air studio timing up to the news with Beth Midler’s wind beneath my wings.
What a hoot!
Congratulations possum.
