Christian O’Connell signs on for another 5 years with ARN

Reporter

ARN has today announced it has renewed the contract for Gold 104.3 Breakfast show host Christian O’Connell until 2029 and beyond.

Signing for a further five years, ARN says it is thrilled to be continuing the longstanding partnership with Christian, alongside Jack Post and Patrina Jones, who together not only form Melbourne‘s #1FM Breakfast Show but are also heard on an additional 27 stations across the country.

On renewing his contract with ARN, O’Connell says “Today I have nothing but deep gratitude at signing my new long-term deal, and that’s how my family feel as well. It means I get to continue building and growing what I’m doing with my positive corner of the radio dial, where I want my listeners to feel like they belong, and we can share the messiness of being human!”

ARN’s National Content Director Duncan Campbell says “Christian O’Connell has truly won over Melburnians, bringing a unique show and storytelling to the airwaves every weekday morning. The show continues to produce consistent and engaging content, which has led to the continued success of the show come ratings time. We look forward to continuing to work with Christian and the team to create more radio magic for Melbourne.”

ARN’s CEO Ciaran Davis says “Putting an English accent onto the Melbourne airwaves was a brave move 5 years ago, but we’ve never looked back. Christian is now well and truly part of the fabric of Melbourne and his commitment to unearthing the stories that make Melbourne tick is what makes the show a cut above the rest. We’re thrilled to have cemented our partnership for another 5 years.”

Christian signs on but next year may see a change of ownership of GOLD if ARN gets the SCA deal over the line. Interesting times ahead…

@Aussiecam58 – I think you’ll find that just like the K&J deal, O’Connell has signed on with ARN, not Gold. I’d imagine that if ARN were successful with their proposed SCA takeover, O’Connell would move across to Triple M if that’s the network ARN wants to retain.
