Bob the ratings builder

There is great affection for BBQ Bob Gallagher within the ACE Radio Network, and it’s not hard to see why.
Speaking to Radio Today after Bob’s 4BH Breakfast show rose 3.7 points to 6.9 in Brisbane Survey 6, ACE Chief Marketing Officer Grant Johnstone says one of the most pleasing aspects has been seeing Bob’s reaction.
And that’s because Bob is, well … just so darn likeable.
“We’re obviously thrilled about the result. It’s wonderful to see how excited Bob is,” says Johnstone.
“It’s like his shiny new toy he can put his heart and soul into. We’re just so pleased for Bob because he’s such a nice bloke. He’s just so appreciative.”
Equally delighted is ACE CEO Mark Taylor who tells Radio Today “Bob’s just over the moon, and I reckon he’s got more in him yet.”
4BH’s all-music format went up a whopping 4.0 points to 8.6%, following a 3.3 increase last survey.
Johnstone says the result certainly exceeded expectations.
“It’s great to see that it’s come off. We didn’t predict an 8. We were thinking modestly. We would have been thrilled with a result in the sevens.”
The station’s biggest leap came in 65+, where it gained a phenomenal 12.8%.
Rather than shout from the rooftops, though, the station maintains a humble approach, taking nothing for granted as it continues to quietly enjoy what has so far been an extraordinary ride.
I looked at how 3mp and 2ue are doing and it’s true, Brisbane is a different market.

I listen to your station every day
and have done so for many years
today I believe your station is
proberly even better.I drive during the day and listen on and off all day,when I get home from work
it’s around 6pm and I would like to relax and listen to music,but
you have that totally boring
Amanda show on and they talk
Shit and try to make people laugh
but I’m sure more people turn your radio station off you are a
music station play music especially at 6pm at night,
who wants to listen to these
fool’s trying to be funny.

I switched from 4BC after they flicked Breeny to 3 pm, he was perfect first up, I was a dedicated Ray Hadley listener too but too much football and country music for me so thought I’d try 4BH, love the music you guys play so if nothing changes I’ll be listening all day from my truck.

Love BBQ Bob’s more music show. My only complaint is he does talk over the start of songs… every time. It’s really annoying.
