Ben & Liam raise over $88,000 for Lifeline Adelaide

Adelaide Breakfast duo Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton have raised $82,755 for Lifeline Adelaide.

The mammoth fundraising effort involved the duo being ‘trapped’ in a glass box in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall for the week. They broadcast their Nova 919 Ben & Liam show from the box, but were also trapped there for the duration of the week for all to see.

They wanted to encourage important conversations around mental health, and said they were blown away by the whole experience.

“We have never been a part of anything quite like this. We feel privileged to have such an incredible team behind us. The words and stories we’ve heard this week have truly touched us. Now, please direct us to the nearest shower,” they said.

Simon Shrapel, chief executive of Uniting Communities, was similarly ‘blown away’.

“We are blown away by the amazing support from Nova and the Adelaide community this week – you’ve shone a bright light on mental health and opened up some really important conversations to reduce the stigma often associated with mental health and support people who may be feeling trapped in their thoughts to reach out and know that they are not alone,” he said.

He also highlighted how valuable the funds would be.

“The funds raised will allow Lifeline Adelaide to train another 30 crisis supporters to be there for people facing some of their darkest times. We offer our sincerest thanks to Nova for bringing awareness to mental health and supporting the vital services of Lifeline. Your work really will change lives.”
