Ben Fordham: Living with Epilepsy

Staff Writer

2GB’s Bed Fordham is one of the 1 in 25 Australians who will suffer from epilepsy during their lives.

“It scared the living daylights out of me… I didn’t know what was going on”,said Ben.

Ben was on ACA last night as the new ambassador for Epilepsy Australia. Ben joins a very small circle of public figures willing to talking about it.

“I’m 38 and the only people with a public profile who I’ve heard in my life with epilepsy are Wally Lewis and Buddy Franklin”, said Ben.

Ben has lived with Epilepsy since he was seven and as Ambassador of Epilepsy Australia, his aim is breakdown the stigma that surrounds it. He also talks about a number of people who have confided in him that they also suffer the condition but won’t publicly talk about.  “…politicians who are household names, who have epilepsy”, said Ben
