Ben and Liam trying to skew Hottest 100 voting

Nova’s Ben and Liam are at it again, taking the piss out of their old station with their Hottest 100 vote again this year.

The pair submitted a very un-triple j style selection of songs in their entry to the annual ABC youth network’s musical democracy exercise.

In fact the songs could well have come from the Nova playlist rather than what is heard on triple j. Funny about that!

Taylor Swift features twice in their list, and there’s also Ed Sheeran, Adele and a bunch of other commercial music station favourites.

The pair also cheekily submitted their own podcast as their fifth voting entry.

Ben and Liam, who host Nova breakfast in Adelaide, hold 8.1% share of the breakfast audience in that market according to this week’s ratings. They are scheduled to host Nova’s national breakfast show over summer.

I know it was years ago but Triple J really started declining when they refused to acknowledge the votes for Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, Kingsmill and the Triple J CD’s have sucked all the legitimate fun from Triple J and just try to pedal the same personality between hosts.

The number one song in 1994’s hottest 100 was Denis Leary’s “Asshole”, why can’t they just have fun with the countdown like they used to??

Ben and Liam are on Nova 919, not 106.9. They held an 8.1 share in the most recent survey.

These two were very good on breakfast last week. Something different to listen to which made a nice change to the other shows which are all getting bit long in the tooth now. WS, 2Day, KIIS all sound so old at breakfast time. Good hearing something got us under 40’s.
