Reporter

Even though the Barbie movie has already been in cinemas for over a month, latest research suggests that songs from the soundtrack will continue to pick up streams in the weeks ahead.

Movies can often be the catalyst for discovering new music, and the Barbie movie is no exception, with Barbie – The Album boasting a star-studded lineup of artists – from Dua Lipa’s pop hit Dance The Night to the Billie Eilish piano ballad What Was I Made For?

Alexandra ChanCustomer Success Associate at global foundation Luminate – says “It even included a Ken-ergetic ballad by Ryan Gosling, which earned him a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with I’m Just Ken.”

Chan notes that in its first week of release, the soundtrack earned 89.1 million dollars in On-Demand Audio streams in the U.S., with Barbie World by Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice & Aqua driving most of it.

According to Luminate’s Insights Artist & Genre Tracker, Barbie has been especially great as launching pad for music discovery, as the film targets females across multiple age groups, especially Gen Zers & Millennials.
