‘Baby’ John Burgess in intensive care

‘Baby’ John Burgess is in intensive care at the Royal Perth Hospital due to a bacterial infection.

His manager Evan Broadway says he was due to be released on Friday and was already eager to get back to his work as a radio announcer at Perth’s 6iX.

“He wanted to work Saturday, and we said, ‘Nah mate have the weekend off, just take the day off,’” Mr. Broadway said.

“But that’s just how loyal he is to his listeners.”

According to the West Australian (subscription required), the 78-year-old is in a stable condition with his wife by his side.
