ATO sue 2SM

Staff Writer

2SM Sydney has been issued with a lawsuit by the Australian Taxation Office, alleging the radio station owes over $4.5m in unpaid taxes, interest and fines.

The ATO claims that 2SM failed to pay income tax between 2002 and 2004. The station is alleged to have failed to pay taxes, interest and charges totalling $3.8m for FY02, FY03 and FY04.

The fees and charges now exceed the original tax owed by 2SM in FY02, which was $255,654.

2SM, operated by Bill Caralis (pictured), is fighting the claims in the NSW Supreme Court.
