As local as it gets

It’s a unique and exciting experience when you work at a radio station in a bustling regional city which just happens to have an AFL team … which also just happens to be in the Grand Final.

Welcome to Geelong – where the teams at Bay 93.9 and K Rock are abuzz with nervous excitement as the Cats prepare to do battle with the Swans on the hallowed MCG turf this Saturday.

The stations’ Moorabool Street headquarters are decked out in blue and white, with staff lapping up an unforgettable week for the club and the city.

K rock brekky team member and Cats great Cameron ‘Lingy’ Ling will present the Premiership Cup should Geelong get over the line on Saturday, so was keen to get a handle on things.

Even General Manager Andy Mathers – currently in Europe – took time out to toast the occasion from afar.

Both stations have been giving away Grand Final tickets this week.

K rock will broadcast the big game on Saturday, while The Sideline View on Bay FM will have a host of Geelong identities dropping by for a chat, including Sam Newman, Rebecca Maddern and Andrew Bews, along with former Collingwood premiership player Leigh Brown.
