APN New Zealand is no more!

Staff Writer

At the beginning of September APN News & Media, the parent company of the Australian Radio Network, and The Radio Network signalled  to the market that they were looking at divesting their New Zealand radio assets, being TRN.

APN NZ owns a stable of media assets in print, radio, digital and e-commerce – some of the biggest brands in the country.

But that has changed.

APN NZ, TRN and Grabone have moved into a single corporate brand, now known as NZME.

NZME or "N-Zed me" stands for New Zealand Media and Entertainment.

CEO Jane Hastings launched the new company brand saying:

"Our combined assets have exceptional reach in the New Zealand market with 2.9 million people connecting with our brands every week,"

"As NZME. we will be able to leverage that advantage to more effectively connect advertisers with audiences across the country."

NZME  has taken a clear strategy in defining their content streams into three broad umbrellas – News, Sport and Entertainment. The radio brand names they have are not changing

"Only where you had previously seen "APN NZ" or "TRN" will you now see NZME.. This will bring all of our platforms together to clearly establish us as the preferred news, sport and entertainment destination for New Zealanders.", said CEO Jane Hastings

This is the next step of integration for the NZ businesses with Jane going on to say:

"We are committed to being multi-platform, to being the biggest creators of locally produced news, sport and entertainment in the country whilst connecting with the best international content."
