The competition is hot. The standard is high. And the judges well and truly have their work cut out.

As the entries continue to flood in, this year’s Radio Today Podcast Awards are shaping up as the biggest yet.

The 40 categories include the AFTRS-sponsored award for Best New Podcast.

Plus, for the first time, winners in each category will receive a bespoke, engraved trophy.

Today we present another sneak peek at some of the latest entries.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Category: Best Interview Podcast

Submitted by Sandy Kaye

Sandy (pictured above) says her decision to enter the Radio Today Podcast Awards wasn’t an easy one.

“It’s never easy to define what’s particularly worthy about one’s work, without appearing egotistical, but I truly believe A Breath of Fresh Air is exceptional – exceptional not because of me, but rather because of the stories that some of the best-known musical artists from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s choose to share with me.”

Sandy created the podcast to honour them.

“It’s all about THEIR lives, THEIR stories, THEIR music, told now, in THEIR voices, before they’re lost forever.”

“I see my podcast as a personal labour of love for me, but also as an archival legacy for music fans and practitioners alike, both current and future, who otherwise might never know of the amazing people who helped build the industry.”

Phillip Crawford

Category: Podcast Audio Producer of the Year

As an independent producer, Phillip (pictured above) has created 20 structured, narrative-focused podcast episodes within the competition period.

His current projects demonstrate how podcasts can intersect with social change and impact communities.

Phillip says “My creative work spans diverse styles, from producing a science-focused podcast (Agents for Change) which exploits the natural twists and surprises from social science research to achieve a narrative arc, to mixing fiction, poetry, conversation, hip-hop, and personal storytelling in A Good Mind To. These works are rich, immersive audio experiences.”

“I don’t hesitate to tackle difficult subjects but always bring compassion, relatability, and empathy.”

Big Business with Brittney Saunders

Category: Best New Podcast

Launched in March this year, Big Business is hosted by businesswoman and influencer Brittney Saunders.

Seven years ago, Brittney started a business in the garage underneath her house. Today, it’s grown to an 8-figure empire with over 60 employees, five retail shops and a booming online store.

On Big Business, she takes the audience behind the scenes to teach all the lessons she wishes she’d known from the start.

Britt has been very open about her business journey – regularly sharing content that gives the audience an honest glimpse into the realities of running and growing a business.

Hangin’ Out With The Old Fellas

Category: Best Comedy Podcast

Featuring the Attrick Brothers – Jerry and Barry – Hangin’ Out With The Old Fellas is described as a comedy podcast that masquerades as serious news.

Live every fortnight from Spindly Pines Nursing Home, Jerry and Barry reinterpret the news for Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z, bringing their Baby Boomer smarts to the young people, who just aren’t paying enough attention to current affairs.

Incisive commentary, rubbery statistics and a bit of nudity – well, a lot actually. Though never intentional!

Bounce Forward

Category: Best Health and Wellness Podcast

Guided by the dynamic force of Tiff Hall, Bounce Forward is a tri-weekly podcast entwined with empowerment and transformation.

Tiff inspires her audience to embrace a forward-looking approach to wellness.
