Easy takes on smooth

Last month SCA launched Digital station Easy, a soft adult contemporary music format positioned as  Continuous Easy Favourites, No Talk, Relax and Take it Easy.  It plays music artists like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac,  Marvin Gaye, Adele, Lionel Richie, Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Rod Stewart. 

The new format puts Easy in direct competition with Nova Entertainments smooth which is currently Number 1 FM in Sydney and Number 3 FM in Melbourne. smooth is positioned as  the “Easy place to relax” and also plays a similiar thread of artists like the Bee Gees, Lionel Ritchie, Michael Buble, George Michael, Adele, Elton John and Whitney Houston.

With over 26% of listeners now using Digital radio and the recent Commercial Radio Australia Digital ratings showing it now reaches 3.5 million Australians, SCA will be hoping to erode smooths recent mainstream ratings success .
