ABC and SBS launch Hobart DAB+ services

A joint announcement today by ABC and SBS revealed Hobart can now to access numerous  DAB+ digital radio from both broadcasters.

On the SBS side, stations include SBS Radio1, SBS Radio2, SBS Radio3, SBS Arabic24, and music stations SBS Chill, SBS PopDesi and SBS PopAsia

For their part, ABC have made available Double J, ABC Jazz, ABCCountry, ABC Extra, ABC Grandstand Unearthed and ABC KIDS listen.

“We are thrilled to be launching permanent digital services in Hobart and extending SBS’s reach to more audiences,” said SBS acting director of audio and language content Pip Spilsburry.

“With the permanent installation, our audiences will now be able to enjoy the complete range of services provided by SBS Radio.”

“The introduction of digital radio in Hobart is an important milestone for the ABC as it coincides with the launch of the latest addition to our digital-only channels, ABC KIDS listen,” added ABC director of regional and local Michael Mason.

“We are sure that the pre-school audience in Hobart will enjoy this new channel as much as children have in other parts of the country since its launch several weeks ago.”

The new services are available in Hobart from today, Monday March 19.
