ABC’s Julia Christensen – Gone Fishing!

Staff Writer

Julia Christensen is heading off.  After 29 years on ABC Local Radio Northern Territory, Julia is retiring.

“I’ve had 29 years on ABC Local Radio and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.  The very fact that I ended up in radio is a happy accident.  I came to Australia and worked and travelled my way around the country, never once thinking that my career would be in the media.”

Manager, Metropolitan Local Radio, Jeremy Millar said: “Julia is one of our most valued and experienced presenters. Highly regarded as a local news breaker, her record of holding politicians to account and her ability to connect with listeners on the stories that matter to them, demonstrates her great skill as an interviewer and storyteller.

“Julia is much-loved across the Territory and she will be missed by her friends and colleagues at ABC Local Radio as well as her listeners. We wish her a happy retirement and lots more time to spend with her family, friends and out on the water – fishing.”

Julia landed in Darwin in the early 80’s and has it has been home ever since.
