70 years old today: Happy birthday 3NE

A mega day of celebrations has kicked off in Victoria’s north east as Wangaratta’s iconic AM radio station 1566 3NE turns 70.

To mark the occasion, 3NE – part of the ACE Radio Network – will host a nine-and-a-half-hour outside broadcast today, from the doorstep of the station at 19 Templeton Street.

Well known 3NE alumni include Channel Nine’s Tony Jones, Smooth FM newsreader Nikole Gunn, Patrina Jones from The Christian O’Connell Show, Ray Tyrrel, Troy Ellis from Triple M’s Marty Sheargold Show, Smooth FM brekky host Mike Perso and Jarrod Graetz.

Led by host Matt Hobbs, the live broadcast runs from 8.30 this morning, with plenty of cake being served up and the Lions Club of Wangaratta cooking up a feed.
