4 weeks of ACRA’s Finalists Fever 2013 #13

Staff Writer

There are thousands of hard-working, dedicated and amazingly creative people throughout the radio industry – and every year a small fraction of those people make the short list as a finalist in the ACRA’s.

4 weeks of ACRA's Finalists Fever – where we count down the days to the big event on October 12 by profiling the finalists across all categories. You can still get involved by emailing us here.

With 4 more sleeps until the big night, today in #13 we feature a finalist for most popular station manager, a promotions superstar from WSFM, and we start by featuring Kyle & Jackie O's image producer.

DANIEL BOZYKOWSKI

BEST ACHIEVEMENT IN PRODUCTION (M)
2Day FM, Sydney NSW, Southern Cross Austereo

Give us a quick snapshot of your radio background

4 years at 104.7 / Mix106.3 Canberra (Production Assistant / Commercial Producer / Image Producer / Production Manager)
6 years at 2Day FM Sydney (3 years Today Network Image Producer – Nights / 3 years Kyle and Jackie O Show Image Producer)

….whoa, a decade this year…I only just realised that as I type this!

Please outline your ACRA’s entry

My main role is to keep Kyle and Jackie O top of mind with the listener through station promos. With every audio piece I hope to tell a story and evoke an emotion, something that will capture attention and be memorable within a small time frame. My entry mainly focuses on the varying production techniques I use to enhance the different styles of content on the show.

What’s the best part of your job?

Every day is completely different! Technically, yes, I am working on the same computer, in the same studio, pushing the same buttons, but the great thing about this show is that I never really know where the content is going to take me. It's great to work in such a fast paced environment because creative ideas never stop flowing and I can take immediate action to get those ideas on the air.

What are your key achievements over the past 12 months ?

I don't know if you would call this a key achievement but I can safely say that I never stop learning. I am constantly tweaking and making improvements to my sound and gaining more understanding of all facets of radio as I go along. I feel I am much more skilled than I was 12 months ago and (hopefully) in 12 months time I will be saying exactly the same thing.

You can’t make a speech on the night but you can here. So let’s pretend you won…. what would you say?

Firstly, I would like to say thank you so much that I don't have to make a speech if I win!

I think I would just say thanks to those who gave me a go and thanks to everyone who I have worked with over the years for making it such a blast. Yes, I would name them ALL. It would be the longest speech ever and totally annoying!

LANA TIMMINGS

BEST PROMOTIONS DIRECTOR (M)
