19 year old scores Nova gig

Staff Writer

He's just turned 19, and hasn't quite graduated from AFTRS, but Tim Wong-See has scored a mid-dawn gig at Nova 96.9.

As part of the radio course, the students toured Nova Sydney. Within 3 hours of that, Tim had sent PD Brendan Taylor an aircheck, obviously showing great enthusiasm.

He then spent 2 weeks doing work attachment at the station and was thrown in the deep end to do a mid-dawn shift.

Brendan said, “After a very successful AFTRS work placement we’re thrilled to be able to offer Tim work with the Nova Network. He’s a very talented, promising young announcer with a big future ahead. He jumped at the chance to do mid dawn shifts and be mentored by Rabbit, Harlee and the Sydney programming team.”

When Tim was 12 he started his own pirate radio station from his home which operated for 2 years before the ACMA shut him down.
