What next for Kyle, for Jackie O … and for ARN?

Reporter

As the industry reels from one of the biggest bombshells in Australian radio, Jen is joined by Steve Ahern in this week’s ep of the Radio Today podcast to discuss the spectacular demise of the Kyle & Jackie O Show.

Steve had an on-the-record chat with Kyle in the lead up. Here, Steve and Jen talk about the possible future for Kyle, for Jackie … and for ARN.

There’s also a sneak peek at GfK Survey 1 of 2026.

Don’t forget, entries for the Australian Audio Awards close at midnight tonight (Friday the 6th). Make sure you get yours in!

Sincerely doubt it’s a publicity stunt, given the ASX announcement. The ARN board wouldn’t be complicit in breaching the corporations act.

Tom, TripleM Sydney picked up listeners due to the conclusion of Kyle and Jackie O. Triple M in Melbourne will pick up listeners as well. I will be waking up to Beau Ryan and the team in Sydney. Mick, Rosie Nick and Titus in Melbourne is my prediction right now.

The Melb experiment was never going to work. The Victorian capital city is awash with talented breakfast presenters. I blame the ARN management for thinking, at the time, a Sydney breakfast program would find an audience in Melbourne. Victorians are too proud and sophisticated, have a different mind set and culture when compared to NSW. ARN should have sampled the K & J’o breakfast show into the Brisbane radio market…Brisbane has more similarities with Sydney and it may have found an audience.

Listened to your podcast on Tuesday 10.3 whilst travelling by train and coach back to Mildura. Sarah you state you are a feminist however it should be considered that Jackie Henderson is an enabler of Kyle Sandilands’ behaviour and at no point in recent years until now did Jackie call him out and walk away.

Disgraceful.
