Founding member of the National Indigenous Media Association of Australia, James ‘Jim’ Remedio has passed away, aged 79. 

Jim’s influence in Australian broadcasting spanned over 40 years, with involvement in bodies like the National Indigenous Television Network, the Community Broadcasting Foundation, the Australian Indigenous Communications AssociationFirst Nations Media Australia and more.

The respected Elder and proud Torres Strait Islander was awarded the Michael Law Award at the 2022 CBAA Community Radio Awards for his lifelong dedication to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices in Australian media.

His radio roles spanned the country and included Radio Larrakia in Darwin, Yamatji Media in Carnarvon, 3KND Kool ‘N’ Deadly in Melbourne and CAAMA in Alice Springs.
