The 90.9 Sea FM Breakfast team broadcasted live from the event, making their rowing challenge even more difficult as they balanced the multitasking feat.

But Bianca Dye said their challenge on Friday was nothing compared to what Gold Coast mum Georgia Kidd was going through.

“A clot blocked blood flow to Georgia’s brain earlier this year, and surgeons were forced to remove part of her skull,” she said.

“She was placed on life-support for nine days, and while she’s on the road to recovery and has been in the studio with Ben and Lakey and I, but it’s a long and expensive journey.”

“That’s why we are supporting her, it’s what Gold Coasters do.”

This year the event featured 60 x Concept2 rowing machines lined up side by side.

Each participant had the challenge of rowing a full marathon (42.2 kilometres) as part of a team or individually.

Ben Hannant’s team was Olympic kayaker Kenny Wallace, former Broncos Captain Alex Glen, former NZ NRL player Sam Perritt, fellow NRL players Todd Carney and Michael Crocker, Ironman Kye Hurst, Ironwoman Ali Day and a few other surprise rowers.

Joining Lakey was former Australian NRL player Greg Bird, reality television personality David SubritskySonja Marceline from The Hunted and Meaghan Marx from The Bachelor.

Bianca’s secret weapon was Gold Coast drag queen Roxie Harte who rowed in full drag. Joining them was Ironwoman Courtney Hancock and TV personality Lincoln Lewis.

Footy star Mat Rogers, co-founder of 4ASD Kids Charity also attended with his wife Chloe.
