MyRadioTest music research

Staff Writer

Radio Today and BPR this week have announced our brand new music research resource for radio, that we will be providing at no charge to the industry.

Today, we publish the link to our first music research list where your listeners are able to listen to the hooks, and give their feedback on the songs.

So how does it work, and what do you need to do?

Very simple.

This is the link that will take your listeners to the music research list:

http://goo.gl/zgylHB

They will be played 25 short hooks, and asked for their opinion on each song. We will collect the responses and collate the data. We encourage you to become comfortable with the process by clicking the link and looking through how we conduct the test.

Here's the next steps:

Step 1

Copy the URL above, and paste it into your station's Facebook news feed, inviting your listeners to help out with their feedback on the music. Remember the more listeners to your station who take part, the more relevant the results will be for your station.

The survey is live until Monday 7 October, so feel free to plug the link through the week.

Step 2

Check Radio Today on Tuesday 8 October when we publish the results from the national research, you will be able to print out the results: the under 40 years figures, or the over 40 years figures (or both!) and take them into your music meeting.

Step 3

The next day, Wednesday, we publish the new list of 25 songs for you to promote to your listeners.

It couldn't be simpler.

It is completely free for your radio station, and of course it is completely free for your listeners.

Here is the list of songs in our first research list:

  Daft Punk – Get Lucky
Imagine Dragons – On top of the world
Ed Sheeran – Give me love
Katy Perry – Roar
MKTO – Thankyou
Bernard Fanning – Tell me how it ends
Pink – True love
Vance Joy – Riptide
James Arthur – Impossible
Matt Corby – Resolution
Avicii – Wake me up
Jason Derulo – Talk dirty
Bruno Mars – When I was your man
Miley Cyrus – Wrecking ball
One Republic – Counting Stars
Taylor Swift – Red
Bastille – Pompeii
Lana Del Ray – Summertime Sadness (remix)
Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines
Boy and Bear – Southern Son
Olly Murs – Troublemaker
Lady Gaga – Applause
Of Monsters & Men – Mountain Sound
Jessica Mauboy – To the end of the earth
Armin Van Buuren – This is what it feels like

Realistically, the music list we put together will never suit any one station perfectly, and it isn't designed to do that. Rather, it is intended to give an overview of current songs that will have relevance in part to CHR, Hot AC, AC and Adult stations.

We hope you take part, and look forward to any feedback you have as our new resource settles in.

Remember, this is the link to post into your stations newsfeed to encourage your listeners to give their feedback: http://goo.gl/zgylHB
