Macquarie Media Swoops on Perth & Sydney

Staff Writer

The bloodletting has begun again for Macquarie Media and comes days after releasing their results to the market.

Radio Today has received reports that a number of staff have been made redundant at their 6PR operations in Perth. Two local casualties Radio Today is aware of include 6PR Perth General Manager Martin Boylen and on a network level, long standing National Research and Programming Executive, Benjamin Roberts.

While Perth was Thursday, Friday afternoon was Sydney’s turn as we understand that Operations Manager for 2UE, 2GB and 2CH Paul Bowd has had his position made redundant. Insiders report that other markets are unlikely to escape as the network tries to recover after Macquarie Media’s first results for the 6 months to December 31, showed a revenue drop of 9%.  It also showcased that the combined revenues of the then separate Fairfax Network and Macquarie Network prior to their merge were higher overall.

Radio Today has reached out to COO Adam Lang for comment after the redundancies were made.
