Last day on air for Triple M’s Strawny as he takes an extended break

Reporter

Alex ‘Strawny’ Strachan has wrapped up his final shift today, as he departs his role on Triple M Mid North Coast Breakfast to take care of his mental health.

Strawny took over Breakfast from his dad Mark Strachan OAM at the beginning of this year.

In November, he took a break, saying that navigating long-term mental health challenges can be a demanding journey and that it had recently taken a toll on his well-being.

He says “As the host of the “Mental Health Matters” podcast, I recognise the importance of prioritising my own mental health. Therefore, I want to inform you that I’m taking an extended break from the Triple M Breakfast Show to focus on regaining control of my well-being.”

“I deeply appreciate the support from my colleagues at Triple M and everyone who has been there for me during this challenging period. Your support means a lot to me, and I’m genuinely thankful. I’ll be back soon.”

Strawny was the ratings leader in April’s Xtra Insights survey of Port Macquarie and has been a champion for charity and mental health discussion throughout the region.

That’s great he’s being open and honest. I wish I could take an extended break for my mental illness in the real world. Workplace need to support this more then your annual leave balance
