The KIIS gamble

There are always a few nerves ahead of survey day – more so when it’s the book one survey. But this year, there’s a bit more riding on it for ARN.  In just 24 hours, it’ll find out whether the KIIS gamble has paid off in Melbourne.

ARN has invested a lot of time, effort and money in launching KIIS 101.1, the new station rising from the ashes of the somewhat dated and ‘daggy’ Mix brand.

Along with the renaming and rebranding, ARN scored some high profile signings – Matt Tilley in breakfast and Hughsey and Kate in drive; a move designed to attract some of their loyal listeners, of which there are many.

It goes without saying there are a lot of ‘twitchy’ people at the Pelaco building, as they sweat on tomorrow’s survey results. Content Director Brendon Dangar has admitted to a lot of sleepless nights before the station launch and as survey one approached.

“I need a lie down.  I can’t wait for the survey break! Everyone’s been working really hard, but it’s just the unknowns”.

“The station is sounding really good, the product is really strong.  Breakfast is sounding great: well ahead of where we thought they would be.  Hughesy and Kate in drive: from day one, they just went off”.

“But it’s those unknowns: Hopefully those Rating Gods will shine on us on survey day”.

No doubt SCA and Nova Entertainment will be praying to the same survey Gods tomorrow morning.
