“I didn’t quit.” Jackie O opens up about ARN departure

Reporter

In another twist on the Kyle and Jackie O saga, Jackie O Henderson has just issued a statement to address what she says is the ‘misinformation’ surrounding her departure from the KIIS Network’s Kyle & Jackie O Show.

In a statement released this afternoon Jackie said she is ‘heartbroken’ by the way her exit  has played out.

“I am deeply saddened by the events of the past week and the possibility of the show ending. This has come as a shock to me, as it has to everyone else.

“Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about my departure from the show. I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign.

“The current media narrative does not reflect what actually occurred, and it has been truly heartbreaking to see how this has unfolded. At this stage, I am unable to say anything further, as I am addressing this through the appropriate legal channels.”

Legal action is now in progress.

The comments are at odds with the notion that Henderson elected to terminate her multi-million dollar contract with ARN, contradicting the stock exchange release earlier this week that said:

“Ms Jacqueline Henderson has given notice that she ‘cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands.’ Accordingly, ARN has terminated the services agreement with Henderson Media Pty Ltd, under which Ms Henderson presents the Kyle and Jackie O show. Ms Henderson will cease to present the Kyle and Jackie O show.”

An ARN spokesperson has told Radio Today that the company has “no further comment,” and referred us to the previous stock exchange statement.

Jackie’s statement was released late on Friday, shortly before the stock exchange was due to close for the week. ARN is unlikely to be able to comment before Monday when the ASX opens, given its obligation to keep the market informed of material changes to the publicly listed business.

The matter will now come down to whether, when Jackie said she “cannot work with Kyle” any more, that was grounds for contract termination, or whether it was just a statement in an HR conversation about the dynamic between the two personalities.

It’s right she didn’t quit. She said she couldn’t work with Kyle and management terminated the contract. Now they will be lawyers.

I’m not so sure this statement does contradict the ASX release.

I think a lot of colour is being added to these statements.

The release says that:

1) Jackie cannot continue to work with Sandilands and

2) that ARN have terminated the agreement under which Jackie presents the KJ show.

That’s what the statement says.

There’s a lot of paraphrasing going on here.

A1N was removed from the All Ordinaries on Friday due to market cap – another sign post that its all over – I’m sure I’ll see all over Linkedin how Audio is booming and how ARN is now an “entertainment” company – followed by a bucketload of likes from internal ARN staff – the lack of credibility and accountability is the only thing “outstanding”

Never listened to either of them but….i think Jack is an attention seeker – if she doesn’t want to work with Kyle why can’t Kyle go back on radio by himself – i mean he does have fans (no comment) and Jack has got more than her fair share from them both being in it together all these years.

Let it go Jack and go start your own radio station and let Kyle back on air.

Actually 2GB could do with a boost send Kyle over there to do a morning show.

Shake things up – out of the boring – change is as good as a holiday.
