“I can tell you this is my decision.” Triple M’s Cliff Reeve signs off
After an incredible career spanning 49 years, legendary WA broadcaster Cliff Reeve has confirmed he is retiring from radio.
Reeve made the announcement to listeners this week on his Triple M program The Drive Home with Cliff, clarifying a few points along the way.
“Some of you may have already read some things online in the press and in social media – there’s one or two things around. I can now confirm for you that I’m going to be retiring from full time radio at the end of this year.”
“I can tell you this is my decision. I’ve been talking with the lovely boss from Triple M in Western Australia for some time about this. The Rush Hour is going to be on next year with JB & Billy – so like I say, timing.”

“After nearly 49 years – thank you for being with me.”
“I think it is time for me to go and do some other things. But I’m not going disappear completely. I’ll be popping up on Triple M here and there from time to time.”
Reeve commenced his career in Bridgetown, progressing to Katanning and Kalgoorlie before moving to Queensland. He worked for 4RO in Rockhampton and 4CC in Gladstone before returning to WA in 1993.
He hosted the Breakfast show on RadioWest in Bunbury and then took over the Drive timeslot nine years ago.
His five decades in radio were the culmination of a childhood dream.
“All I can say is that I’ve wanted to do this since I was 14,” says Reeve. “I’ve been doing it since I was 17, and I’ve turned 66. Now I think it’s time for me to do some other things along the way. Thank you for being there.”
Reeve’s final Drive show program will air on December 12 and can be heard on Triple M WA or via LiSTNR.
The Rush Hour with JB & Billy will be heard statewide on Triple M in 2025.
Cliff was my first PD when, as a complete radio novice, I rolled off the train at Kalgoorlie and into 6KG.
I was given the night shift which meant at midnight I had to turn off the radio station transmitter by sending a series of numbers using an old rotary phone dial. Then lock the door and walk home through what was indeed the Wild West!
Thanks for your patience back then Cliff, for introducing me to Bruce Cockburn too and congratulations on a great career.
Mike
I travelled WA on LSL in 2023 and listened to him. A great drive show and a true professional. Nothing like that left now
I think triple m have dropped the ball. They have dumped local talent all over the country for 2 clowns from Melbourne….. maybe they should be paid what they are worth , leave some money for others.
I was lucky to work with Cliff at RadioWest & Hot FM in Bunbury. What a ride! Congratulations, Cliff.
I was fortunate to work with Cliff back in 1988 at 4RO Rockhampton (in stereo).
In my opinion old dear you are the greatest communicator I have ever heard.
Weather it was playing “the hits” or interviewing the late Barry Humphries, you kept the listeners engaged.
Well done on an outstanding career mate.
Keep it tight and bright.
All the best for the future.
PS: Surely you will play The Osmonds-“Crazy Horses” during your last gig?
A regional WA Radio institution.
A man who can still sound fresh every day after so many years.
Well Done Cliff. A monumental career. Enjoy the slower pace.
