Hit Network confirms Mike E & Emma for national Nights and Weekend Breakfast

Reporter

The Hit Network has today announced that for the remainder of 2024, the Mike E & Emma show, currently heard in the morning on 104.1 2DayFM, is moving.

From Monday 26 August, the show will temporarily take up residence Monday to Thursday in the national Nights timeslot and the national Breakfast shift on the weekends.

This change follows the interim move of Jimmy Smith and Nath Roye to the 2DayFM Breakfast timeslot.

Long-time radio duo and besties, Mike Etheridge and Emma Chow are known for their relatable and honest radio.

Mike E and Emma said “See you later 4am alarm! We’re pumped to bring the cheekiness of Mike E & Emma to national Nights during the week and then wake up Australia for weekend Breakfast.”

Head of Hit Metro Content Amanda Lee says “Mike E and Emma have been loved by Sydney listeners for over a decade, and it’s exciting to now have the opportunity for the rest of the country to fall in love with them. Likewise, Jimmy and Nath are now serving up their energetic wit and charm to the delight of our Sydney Breakfast audience.”

The Hit Network’s 2025 104.1 2DayFM line-up and national Nights and weekend Breakfast line-ups will be announced in due course.

Jimmy and Nath sound amazing at breakfast. Totally at ease and quick witted. First time in nearly a decade I’ve heard some excitement and energy coming out of 104.1 at breakfast. Sounds like they’ve always been on there and not just covering a shift. You’d be smart to leave them in.

Hit Nights have been rather unstable for a while now. Just in the space of about three or four years, we’ve had…

*Ash London – who in fairness, I do believe held the timeslot for a few years – possibly even during her 11 months or so on 2DayFM brekky. But understandably, she decided to leave radio after having a baby IIRC.
*Tom & Olly
*Lizzy Lovette, for the approximately five minutes during the back end of 2021 that 2DayFM were allowed to run their own race with a local night show
*Abbie Chatfield
*Jimmy & Nath
*All the survey break fill-ins.

…and now, Mike E & Emma.

Maybe I’m missing something here, but surely it would’ve been smarter to promote ME&E to 2DayFM breakfast (where they’ve at least got *some* brand profile in the Sydney market) and just leave Jimmy & Nath on Hit Nights to provide some stability to a program/timeslot which has been almost as much of a revolving door in recent years…and possibly since the infamous Royal prank call-induced implosion of the Hot 30 Countdown all those years ago.
