There’s a star-studded game of backyard cricket taking place at Kirribilli House today, as Fitzy & Wippa’s  First XI Backyard Cricket returns, bigger than ever.

Back for the first time after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the ultimate game of backyard cricket will see Fitzy and Wippa go head-to-head alongside VIPs and special guests, including star player – the PM himself – Anthony Albanese.

Also competing will be New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet – who’ll facilitate the coin toss – Richard Wilkins, Colin Fassnidge, Brett Lee, Home and Away’s Lynne McGranger, Karl Stefanovic, Mark Ferguson, Beau Ryan, Mel McLaughlin, Cam Merchant, Dr Andrew Rochford, Nova’s Tim Blackwell and artist Conrad Sewell, who’ll kick things off with his rendition of the national anthem.

Two lucky listeners also won a spot in the celebrity showdown.

Fitzy & Wippa will be raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Sydney.

Fitzy says “Backyard cricket is back! I have a stellar team behind me, including the Prime Minister himself, so Wippa is definitely in trouble this year.”

Wippa says “We have luck on our side today. I can feel it! Even when you lose, Fitzy, remember we’re raising money for a good cause.”

Fitzy & Wippa can be heard from 6am to 9am on Nova 96.9 and 6pm to 7pm on the Nova Network around the country. Download the Nova Player to check out their daily podcast.
