Craig Bruce on hit105

Staff Writer

After 25 years Brisbanes b105 is no more.

March 6th was the day that hit105 finally arrived.

We caught up with Southern Cross Austereo's Head of Content Craig Bruce about the move. Covering off why it took so long and what's next for the Today Hit Network.

Blair: Must be great to set a clear brand path now for Brisbane?

Craig: It is Blair. As you know we had a go at incorporating hit into the b105 branding at the start of the year but it didn't sit well on the air so we went back to the drawing board so to speak and decided that having the hit branding baked into the position was important enough for us to drop the B.

Blair: Why did it take so long to make the move to be hit105… there was talk of pushing the reset button coming into summer?

Craig: You know how things move slowly in Qld Blair. No rush mate, the BBQ's just getting warm and the XXXX is on ice-let's take our time…

Blair: Nova positions as 'fresh hits' and has done for a while. With your brand name now hit105 is that problematic for Nova, or indeed for you?

Craig: Nova have been a very strong brand in Brisbane for many years, I have lots of respect for Jason and his team. We haven't made the change with them in mind, we're just doing what we think is right for the station and network in the long term.

Blair: Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane down. Who's next, Sydney or Melbourne?

Craig: Blair…the barbie's just getting warm and so is the beer, let's just do one thing at a time!

Blair:  And what about the regional Sea/Star/Hot stations, will hit be rolled out regionally?

Craig: I reckon there's a fair chance we'll have a look at the regional brands at some stage this year.
