Buchanan launches Plus1
Former DMG Programming Boss Dean Buchanan has launched a new talent management firm called 'Plus1'. The venture is a partnership with Public Relations veteran Karen Eck.
Buchanan, who was the highly successful foundation group programmer for the Nova Network, has said that Plus1 will offer a different model of nurturing talent than traditional management agencies.
"We thought given that so many of the management companies, a lot of their strength and history comes from a legal or an accounting background, and we saw an unusual niche in that we had both been on both sides of the fence with talent in practical situations"
Since leaving DMG, Buchanan set up his consultancy, and has an equity position in 'TV Touring', a company which toured 'Deadliest Catch' in 2011.
Speaking of Plus1, Karen Eck commented;
"This style of management suits someone who is creative, has a lot of ideas but struggles to prioritise those ideas and needs good strategic advice that has a positive long-term effect and they need that sort of holistic approach, not to disrespect other models but we felt there was a more holistic way of doing things."
Plus1 has already signed two key talent to its books: Mix 106.5 Drive host Sami Lukas, and host of The Voice, Darren McMullen.
