ACRA’s winners speeches – provincial

The ACRA's are done for another year.

In the lead up to the big night we featured 80+ finalists. When we spoke with them we got them to give us the speech they would have made if they were lucky enough to win.

Below are some of the PROVINCIAL winners and who they would like to thank for their shiny new award….

DAN HILL

BEST MUSIC DIRECTOR

I'd like to thank everyone who has taught me something in this big bad industry. More directly, Brendan Englebrecht for teaching me music when I was starting out, Trent Towson for helping refine my skills during my time on the Gold Coast, Jase Allen for teaching me the joys of DOS Selector, and my partner for being beside me every step of the way.

Oh and I guess I should throw in a shout out for Mum & Dad for driving me into the city on a Sunday morning so I could follow my dream to be on the radio.

JACK LAWRENCE

Gotta do the cliché thing of thanking my parents first! They have always supported me in whatever I have wanted to do and financed a lot of my stupid ideas as well.

Of course all the CD’s that have helped me grow as an announcer, most noteworthy being DB (Derek Bargwanna 2DAY FM)  because I’ve listened back to my original air checks and believe me without direction there is no way I’d be holding an ACRA.

I think the people who deserve an award are the friends and family members of all of us who work in this amazingly crazy industry. They encourage us to pack up our lives (and theirs) to the other side of the country in an effort to get one step closer to wherever your end radio goal may be. You couldn't do it without their complete support and understanding.

Thank you so much, this is an amazing honour …I was so happy just to be nominated this year, just to be here with so many amazing and talented people is wonderful.

I will thank just a few people and firstly I must thank my family, especially my wife who is here to share this with me tonight,  thankyou…I must also thank the team at Southern Cross Austereo in Adelaide and a special thanks to my co-ordinator who is obviously not here tonight, but thanks Wayne for all your help.
