ABC Radio Melbourne celebrates 100 years on air

Big celebrations are in order as ABC Radio Melbourne turns 100 this Sunday, 13 October.

To mark the occasion, ABC Radio Melbourne is hosting a huge birthday event at the Athenaeum Theatre tonight (Friday ,18 October), where presenters and special guests will come together to share their memories and enjoy some Melbourne-made music.

Kicking off at 12.30pm and billed as the party of century, the event will be hosted by the Friday Revue’s own Jacinta Parsons and Brian Nankervis.

Featuring performances by Tina Arena, The Tesky Brothers, Deborah Cheetham and Vika and Linda Bull, there’ll also be appearances from ABC Radio Melbourne announcers who’ve graced the airwaves throughout the years, including  Sammy J, Raf Epstein, Ali Moore, Red Symons, Jon Faine, Lindy Burns and Derek Guille.
