Former Editor & Content Director

92.7 Mix FM has held onto its #1 position in the Sunshine Coast radio market.

In the survey released today, 17.0% of people said they listened to the EON Broadcasting station the most, a slight dip of 1.4 points from the last survey in August 2019.

Holding onto the #2 position was Grant Broadcasters’ Hot 91, which climbed 1.9 points to 13.5%. Also making significant gains was EON’s 91.9 Sea FM, up 3.2 points to 13.2%.

Youth station triple j’s dip of 2.5 points saw it lose the #2 position from last survey when it had 13.5%, and fall to fourth with 11.0%.

Mix also held the #1 position in Breakfast, holding relatively steady at 17.4%, compared to 2019’s 17.6%. The slot is helmed by Mark Darin and Caroline Hutchinson, or Mark & Caroline.

Jumping into #2 in Breakfast with a significant 4.4 point gain was Sea FM’s BarRat & Heidi. The show, featuring Heidi Latcham and Adam Barratt went from 9.9% to 14.3%.

This put Hot 91’s Sam & Ash in third, even though the show gained 0.1 points to sit on 12.9%.

In March this year, the show lost co-host Dave Matthews, transforming the Dave, Sam & Ash Breakfast show into just Sam & Ash.

Matthews revealed at the time that he and co-hosts Sam Coward and Ash Gierke had been told by management that they had to decide which of them would take a redundancy at the end of the week.

All three local commercial stations made gains in cumulative audience.

Mix was up 9,800 to 101,200, while Hot’s gain of 20,700 kept it in second place with 88,100. Sea FM, meanwhile, was up 20,500 to 83,800.
