Homeless to hit-bound: Kast Away on The World In Social

Staff Writer

Local indie artist and internet sensation Seth Petrowski (aka Kast Away) was a special guest on the tenth episode on The World In Social with Chris Rieger.

Formerly homeless and living on the streets of Sydney, Kast Away’s story is inspiring. His journey of self-discovery landed him in Africa for two years before making his way to Sydney to build a career in music.

“I remember having a really down day and walking past an electronic store and seeing an artist receive a Grammy Award,” he recalled. “It reminded me of my passion.

“I will be aiming for [a Grammy] by the end of the year,” he proclaimed.

Kast Away has built a huge following on social media by remixing Disney songs like Frozen’s Let It Go, Moana’s How Far I’ll Go and Tale As Old As Time from Beauty And The Beast.

Having just released debut original single Glow, the journey has moved quite quickly in recent years after coming to a grinding halt not long before.

“It was something that happened really quick. I’ve focused in on what I love doing. People like it and they share it and really go for it.”

He has plans to explore more facets of his skill set in the future, exploring the possibility of doing some voice-overs for a Disney character if the opportunity arises.

“That would be one of the things I would really love to do,” he said. “I’m really open to all different sides of creativity, whether it comes to acting, cartoons, animations or just music.”
