Dead Set Legends returns to Triple M Melbourne with Kate McCarthy, Isaac Smith & Xander McGuire as hosts
105.1 Triple M Melbourne has announced the return of Dead Set Legends, welcoming new hosts Kate McCarthy, Isaac Smith and Xander McGuire to the Saturday morning line-up.
Former AFLW star Kate McCarthy has become one of Triple M’s most respected voices since joining the network in 2019.

A former secondary school maths teacher turned elite footballer, McCarthy has built a reputation for her expert commentary across Triple M Footy, while also co-hosting The Thursday Rub and making regular appearances on The Rush Hour with JB & Billy.
McCarthy said “I’m pumped to be joining Triple M’s Dead Set Legends. I’ve already spent a bit of time with Xander over summer and with Isaac every week on The Thursday Rub, so I can confirm they definitely live up to the show’s name. Saturday morning footy chat with plenty of laughs? I can’t wait to get stuck into it!”
Joining Kate is four-time premiership player and Norm Smith Medallist Isaac Smith, a key voice across Triple M’s footy coverage, including The Thursday Rub.

Rounding out the Saturday morning trio is rising talent Xander McGuire, who has quickly built a reputation as one of footy’s sharpest breaking news reporters, delivering insider scoops through 7News Melbourne and the Seven Network’s AFL coverage.
McGuire is also a familiar voice to Triple M listeners, with regular appearances on Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie and a stint co-hosting Summer Breakfast.
Natalie ‘Herbie’ Herbstreit joins the show as Executive Producer and anchor. Herbie is well known to listeners from The Rush Hour with JB & Billy and Triple M Melbourne’s ‘6-7 Hour with Will, Herbie & Matt’.
Jay Mueller, Triple M Melbourne Content Director, said ““Kate, Isaac and Xander are three outstanding broadcasters, and we’re excited to bring them together for a fresh new take on Saturday mornings in Melbourne. Each of them has already made a strong impact across Triple M and Seven, and together they create a formidable lineup. We’re proud to bring listeners another live and local show on Melbourne’s Triple M.”
The return of Dead Set Legends compliments existing footy coverage heard across Triple M, including:
- Midweek Rub (Wed, 6pm): Leigh Montagna, Dale Thomas, and Damian Barrett
- Thursday Rub (Thurs, 6pm): Jack Heverin, Isaac Smith, Kate McCarthy, and Jay Clark
- Friday Huddle (Fri, 4pm): Mark ‘Howie’ Howard, Jason Dunstall, Nathan Brown, and Damian Barrett
- Saturday Rub (Sat, 11:30am): James Brayshaw, Billy Brownless, Damian Barrett, and Bernie Vince
- Sunday Rub (Sun, 1pm): Leigh Montagna, Nathan Brown, Mitch Cleary, Dale Thomas, and Steve Johnson
Dead Set Legends with Kate, Isaac & Xander begins Saturday, 28 March, and will air across 105.1 Triple M Melbourne from 10am every Saturday throughout the AFL season.
The recent merger between SCA and seven West media came at the right time for Xander Maguire also for Beck Madden and other channel 7 people. This is making a good opportunity happen. Much of the ex producers will end up at Triple M
